Illinois overtime law
Under the Illinois Minimum Wage Law, non-exempt employees must be paid 1.5 times their regular rate for hours worked over 40 in a workweek. This matches the federal rule. Illinois does not require daily overtime or double time.
Example: a 45-hour week
Four 10-hour days and one 5-hour day at $18.00 an hour is 45 hours: 40 regular and 5 overtime. Pay: 40 × $18.00 + 5 × $27.00 = $855.00.
